A place called home

Hi guys, I did an altered art Clock the other day and loved doing it so much I decided to do another one, this time I wanted to do a nature one as I had picked up a set of these gorgeous birds and wanted to use one of them,
I thought this clock roughly looked like the sketch on Dusty Attic too so sort of followed that too,
not sure if it's allowed but hope so!!!

I've also done a little tutorial on how i did this,

I started off with another of those fabulous Alterations clocks but this time took off the glass front, as i wanted my nest to be inside and wanted some of it to be spilling out for a 3D look, I gave the inside and outside of the clock two layers of gesso and did the same on the Dusty Attic skeleton clock, DA- Flourish, Birdhouse and T/H Alterations Gadget gears, these I again die cut in to some cardboard  packaging as it gives fab depth to a project,
in the end I only used one of the foliage pieces and two of the gears, but they will be used some time in the future I'm sure lol,

While the gesso was drying i cut a couple of Cheery Lynn flourish dies out of grunge board and then adhered them onto the clock, tucking them into the curves of the clock sides so it would almost give the illusion of stenciling,

For the inside back  of the clock I added a circle of Maga design paper from the Vintage Autumn basics range XI and added a little chalk ink on the outer edges, I took my DA - skeleton clock
which I had painted with two colours of  Luminarte Silks on top of the Gesso and stuck this on top of the paper slightly off centre lenghwise so the nest wouldn't hide to much of it!
I stuck some metal clock hands from my stash and added a pearl in the center,

Next I took my gadget gears and trimmed them down to size by placing them roughly where I wanted them to be and then sticking them in place with 3D foam pads and glue,
place the back onto the clock at this stage,
shown here, make sure at this stage you have the clock in the correct place ie straight as in this picture I hadn't done so lol,
I made the nest by placing strips of Burlap to build up the bottom then I placed some real  dried twigs from my garden which i had painted here and there with a little gesso, to give some body to the nest, when i had placed them where I liked I drizzled a thin layer of glue over them and left them to dry,
When dry I added some Spanish moss over the top of the twigs and glued my bird in place, I placed a few bits of the moss around the bird and had some coming out of the clock too,
I then attached my Dusty Attic foliage piece which i had covered with my Silks in Emporers Gold then i went over in some places with a little pastel brown chalk ink by Ingvild Bolme from Prima, I wanted a little colour but not to take take too much attention off the rest of the clock, on the other side I added a pearl trim to soften the look,
I added some gorgeous flowers from Sweet Lilac, a Dusty Attic Birdhouse which i coloured with Luminarte Silk Emporer Gold and added a pearl trim in a similar colour from Live and Love crafts,
To finish off my clock I added a little of the Emporers Gold silks on the  leaves of the die cut and added some gold effect wax with my finger on to the stem and also here and there on the clock to give a slightly aged look,

Both sides were done similar, I made this clock for my living room and I can also see the sides form where I sit so I wanted the clock to have added detail from that view too,
Birds eye view again!!!!

Peek a Boo

Hi guys, I'm back today with a project for Dutch Doobadoo using the fabulous new Camera mask, it comes with an inner part too for the finishing touch,

I've made it today for a Newborn baby but it great for Baby girls and weddings too or anything that's for a keepsake,
The papers are by Prima and i used the Burlap stencil with grunge pasteon the bottom, for a little added detail,
I cut out a circle using the lines on the camera mask for the sizes and added acetate behind to give the illusion of the lens and added a little snow tex on top of the circle for added detail and to soften the black a little too,
I used a Lily Of The Valley image called Pushchair and coloured it with my copics, this I adhered behind the cut out circle on the inside,
I finished off the camera with some flowers,  Pushchair charm, pearl flourish and Tim Holtz film strip,
Closer view!!

For the inside I've used some more of the Prima paper then using a section of the design made a pocket for some money or gift card to give to the new parents,
I finished this off with a couple more flowers too and some liquid pearl on the butterfly to match the ones on the Camera front,

Masculine it is

Hi guys, it's time again for a new challenge over at we do doobadoo and the challenge is
Something Masculine,

it came at a good time for me as it's my Brother-in-Laws Birthday this week so hope he's not peeping!! lol
I've used some of the fabby paper art DD products and the brick stencil too, can't seem to get enough of stenciling at the moment!
the paper is by Maja design and I've distressed the edges  and the middle section too, he will probably look at that and say what's that about as did my hubby when I showed him, fellas just don't get artistic licence do they??? he he
I used some of the fabby gears in the middle section and aged them with a hint of snowtex,
The gears I also used on the bottom section in the middle of my wheels/cogs,these started out as a die used on a packing box again, I wanted an aged look on these too so I used a scourer, distress inks and gesso to get the effect, if you would like a tutorial on this effect I may do one soon, shout if you would like one!
The Kraft DD paper art fence was done in a similar way too,
I cut my sissix died leaves out of the  cardboard box again, so love the way this gives things depth and added some of my Luminarte silks on top, love these they shine fabulously,
The bird on the right is one of the soft board birds and the left one is a paper art one, both have been painted with the Silks too,
For the brick work I used my stencil with grunge paste then when dry added some chalks on the top here and there for a rustic look again,

The top of my card has one of my all time favourite clocks by Maja design, peeking out from behind the distressed edges and I made a couple of tree branches again from the packaging and added gesso here and there,
I finished off with a sentiment stamp by Stempelglede and some twine from my stash,

Autumn colours at Sweet Lilac

Hi guys, we've got a fabby new  Sweet Lilac challenge for you today, use autumn colours, so browns, tans, oranges and like mine purples and mauve's lol,

I bought this clock to alter months ago to go in my bedroom, then the family moved in so it got put on hold, I told myself once I got my craft room and bedroom back i would alter it, so here it is lol,
I started off by adding two coats of  white gesso to the clock then when the second coat was  still tacky I added some frantage in white and aged wine mixed together, this I then heat set,
I cut a circle in some gorgeous Maja design paper - Autumn Basics NoII  sewed and distressed the edges for the clock face I also added a pearl string using a heat gun,

On the right hand side of the clock
I've used some of the gorgeous flowers from Sweet Lilac and some of the beautiful leaves they sell too,
Closer view of the  flowers and leaves, I added a charm from my stash and lightly gave it some snow tex treatment,
I added some metal numbers from live and love crafts and too these I added some snow Tex for texture, the wooden clock hands are from my stash and I added a beautiful pearl embellishment from Sweet Lilac in the middle, a few liquid pearl dots were added  on the paper here and there too,
For a little added depth to my clock I painted a wooden fence I bought at The Range with gesso and then added a script stamp from a Stempelglede stamp set,
to this I fixed a T/H photo film linking the right hand side to the left and added a couple more of the fabby flowers,
The  adorable Saturated Canary digi called puppy Luv is one of two images but i only used the girl and is coloured with my distress re-inkers and then fussy cut out, I layered her in front of the fence with 3D glue,
Closer view of frantage finish and some more of the flowers and smaller leaves from Sweet Lilac and a pearl string which I wound round the flowers and over the handle to give a softer look,
Full view again,
Hope you will join us at Sweet Lilac with your projects made using some of their gorgeous products too, talking of which I went to their shop yesterday in St Helen's, wow you want to see the new flowers and leaves they will have on the website soon,!!!!! of course i just couldn't resist getting a few lol,

Use Lace at Bunny Zoe's

Hi guys, wow hasn't the weather been gorgeous!!! so warm and sunny,
the challenge we have for you today at Bunny Zoe's is too use lace,

I made this tag because of the fabby papers in the Kaleidoscope paper pad from Kaisercraft as the small sentiment tag was on one of the papers and it just reminds me of Tegan!!!
The Gorgeous image is of course by Magnolia from the Sweet lemonade Collection called
Tilda with summer pants, just love this stamp!!
I used some lace again from Kaisercraft in Natural and used a La La La Land  flower bunch die which I did in those colours as I thought they fit in with the theme too lol,
Tilda is coloured with my distress re-inkers and fussy cut out, to finish it off I used a Cherish stamp from the true romance collection again from Kaisercraft,

Nikki has a fabby sale on at the moment too so check it out here,
Happy Crafting!!

Tegans Birthday scrapbook page

Hi guys, I said a few posts back that i had an idea for a scrapbook page well here it is lol,
sorry about the colour difference the weather has turned dull and misty so not much natural light

I love this photo of her and the Dusty Attic Delight word fit it perfectly,

The papers are by Maja design coffee in the Arbour papers and i did some stenciling  using a crafters workshop Art is stencil and Mini Confetti stencil with  grunge paste,
The fabby sketch was on the Dusty Attic site so I did my version of it, I know I've a lot to learn but I'm so enjoying it!!!
They are also having a DT call at the moment, I have applied but there are many more talented peeps then me, but a girl can dream lol!!
The beautiful flowers are from Sweet Lilac apart from the white fabric one which was in my stash from ages ago, the circle frame and the foliage is by Dusty Attic and I used Gesso on them first then added a script stamp when dry on the circle and some chalk ink on the foliage then when that was dry some Diamond glaze for a little added interest and texture, you know me I love my texture he he,
The fabric heart was again in my stash and this I sprayed with Prima Bloom sprays, the III charm I gave a little Gesso treatment too,
The hint of gorgeous lace peeking out at the bottom is also by Sweet Lilac and I've used a hint on the edges of the paper too, if you live near ST Helens in Lancashire they are having a demo day on the 13th of September, lots of new goodies will be available too,
For the Dusty Attic delight word I coloured it first with gesso, then when dry added two colours of chalk inks and then Diamond glaze over the top, love the way this shines and adds depth, you can just see the hint of lace peeking out too,
Closer view of the CW Mini Confetti stencil work, as you can see I grunged my paper edges again,
well I so love the distressed look,

Edited to add:
I've re taken my pictures in day light with the sun shining so think the colours are more life like!! lol

I 'm really enjoying these scrapbook pages and fancy having a go with inks and blobs and dots, but that's for another day lol,
This is only my second scrap book page!! I know don't say we can tell but i'm enjoying myself and while discovering this new big world out there have found this scrap around the world blog with a gorgeous mood board photo, love it and have taken inspiration from the flowers, lace and  colours,

Something Feminine at We Do Doobadoo

Hi guys, I'm back today for our something feminine challenge over at we do doobadoo, I just couldn't resist doing another canvas, so into these at the moment!! I created a scene this time using two of the DD stencils with some grunge paste,

I started off with a 6x6 inch canvas and made a circle out of a post it note so it would stick in place on my canvas, then I used a few strips of washi tape to make a cloud effect, doesn't matter which you use it gets covered up with paint sprays after, mine was by Tim Holtz and the design on it was a washed out look,
make some of these strips long enough to go slightly onto your circle/moon mask,
I sprayed my canvas at this stage with Prima Bloom Sprays in the colours Glistening waves, Lime wedge and Vintage metal/Gold foil,
remember to do the sides of the canvas too,
I took away my moon circle shape carefully and placed the washi tape strips which were left on top of my mask down onto the moon shape left behind the mask, then using a hint of the gold foil on a tiny brush I just brought the colour onto the moon here and there on the edges, this was to take off the bright white look and give a softer effect,

closer view of washi strips and lightly coloured moon, I think this effect looks fab and will use it again,
Next I stenciled the stars 470.715.014 and faded dots 470.715.004  using grunge paste, this time I wanted the natural grunge paste colour to show so this is why i did this after using my sprays,
the gorgeous chipboard Devine frame is by Dusty Attic, I have adored their stuff for ages and finally found some for sale in the uk who had stock!! as they run out so fast lol,
For this effect I first cut down a part of the frame I wanted to use and painted the it with gesso, when dry I went over with Luminarte silks in Golden Monarch, Moss green, Persimmon, and Chestnut Brown, these looks gorgeous in real life as they subtly shimmer, to finish off I added a few flowers from Sweet Lilac in similar colours,

I made the swans out of Fimo Classic clay, just doing what I thought a swan would look like, I used hand rounded longish pieces for the neck tapering them off at one end, place these too one side, then rolled a larger piece of the clay with a rolling pin and hand cut out feather shapes, to these I scored lightly with a knife for some fine feather detail and just layered them up in the body area and near the lower neck were I thought they looked ok,
I made a tiny hole for their eyes and baked them in the oven, when dry i added black for their eyes and a little orange for their beaks,
I also used some more of the fabulous Dusty Attic chipboard too, the love mini word 1, was done the same way as the frame above and the Lavender I did a little different as i covered the top part of the flower with embossing powder for a little added texture and depth then used the Golden Monarch Silks on the top and did the same colours of silks on the stems,
To finish my canvas off I added some dragonfly charms, a tiny hint of cheesecloth, pearls and a pearl string for the top of the water effect,
if you have any question just ask,

I hope you join us in the fun at we do doobadoo,
Hugs Liz xx

Sleigh Bells Ring

Hi guys, been playing with a new Dutch Doobadoo Sleigh  mask 470.713.506 which was in this months DT kit, it's fab and would be great with  gold coin toffee's in too, I've made mine as a table decoration,
I used pearlesent card to make my sleigh for a little natural shimmer, after all Santa is magical lol,
The printed paper is by Maga Design and the template includes the lines for the inner design too,
For the bottom of the sleigh i used snow tex for texture and does snow effects brilliantly,
I made the parcels out of a little plywood which is nice and light but gave depth to the presents, I used some more Maga papers for these and finished them off with some twine,
Santa by Magnolia is coloured with my distress markers and i gave his fur a bit of glitter treatment to shine and sparkle too, the laces and his belt have a silver metalic pen on them, after colouring i fussy cut him out and slightly shaped him then layered him on with 3D glue,
The holly die was coloured with Silks and this shines in real life too, I added a few crystal gems for a hint of bling on the sleigh too,
The front of the sleigh has glitter on the top, a pearl string underneath that and a couple of silver bells and a charm which says belive on, the gorgeous flowers are of course by Sweet lilac and i used some letter stickers I had in my stash for the Ho Ho Ho,
The back is a little plainer but I couldn't resist using this wooden piece I bought in a pack last year, some more of the flowers, a doo hickey die and yet more gems for bling, the top has glitter added and the bottom has the Snow Tex added again,
